A Married Couple Becomes Distraught About Their Hazardous And Irresponsible Drinking And Wonders If They Exhibit Any Signs Of Alcoholism

Lenny and Angie have been married for five years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have some kids and so they intentionally established an incredibly vibrant social life.

The principal difficulty, it needs to be emphasized, is that practically everything they do for excitement somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, and family get-togethers they frequent are related to drinking.

If they were occasional drinkers this wouldn't be such a major issue. Due to the fact they drink in an irresponsible manner, nonetheless, they are beginning to take note of some obvious alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just three weeks ago Lenny was apprehended by the police for a second DWI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work because of alcohol-related health problems. Furthermore, Lenny's last two performance evaluations at the office have been less than satisfactory and he has begun to fail to remember what he says or does the times that he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get nervous about his drinking circumstances.

Similar to Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling disheartened about life in general and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past three years. In addition, Angie has been experiencing quite a few throbbing migraine headaches and going through intense hangovers from drinking. As a final point, Angie has been feeling appreciably less active when she awakens, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been receiving some damaging criticism from her relatives, friends, family members, and coworkers about her abusive and careless drinking.

One Wednesday evening while watching the television, Angie and Lenny without any planning whatsoever discovered an attention-grabbing program about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This television special was a real bombshell to Angie and Lenny because several of the alcohol facts that were highlighted looked like they were undeniably correlated with quite a few of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the television special still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been manifesting could be an indication that they are alcoholic or conceivably becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the doctors at the nearby substance abuse treatment facility to find out more about the severity of their drinking issues.

Strangely enough, although their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was clear to see that Lenny and Angie were at the very least dealing with their drinking issues, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in discovering how they could appreciably lessen or do away with the drinking-related difficulties that had started to worsen.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next day, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol abuse rehab clinic located downtown. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking issues that had manifested themselves in their lives, they in point of fact had the most energizing night's sleep they could recollect in the last year.
