A Saturday Night Out With Pals From School At A Local College Club Leads To Irresponsible And Excessive Drinking And An Alcohol Overdose

When Lois was in high school, she had acquired a reputation as a studious individual who rarely, if ever, "got down" and drank with her classmates. She seemed almost obsessed about doing well academically so that she would be able to go after a career that she not only benefited from but one that also gave her some security from a financial position.

After Lois graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a well known program in philosophy. Her logic behind this decision was that this subject area would be a good springboard for law school and would not be indistinguishable from the preponderance of law school applicants who select political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the type of person who worked diligently to finish what she started and then would take a few days off when she could. As it turns out, nonetheless, virtually all of the things she did between school sessions or during her summer vacations were unrelated to drinking. It almost goes without saying that Lois was anything but a party-person. Now that her final exams for her second year in law school were done and feeling proud of the fact that she had done a super job on her tests, because of this, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides going to college for a change.

So Lois and several of her classmates went to a local club where they started to have a few drinks. As the evening advanced, Lois and her pals continued to drink. As a matter of fact she was having such a fantastic time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.

After drinking about seventy-five minutes when Lois began to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then become unconscious, however, her buddies promptly realized that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency number, and ask for emergency assistance because they believed that Lois was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was very aware that she came an inch from losing her life due to an alcohol overdose and, as a consequence, was grateful to be alive. At the same time, nevertheless, she was somewhat dejected knowing that she had almost passed away the night before. Her Mother and Father knew how intensely she studied at the university and how little she let herself socialize with her buddies. Nonetheless, they also realized that Lois needed to stay away from irresponsible and hazardous drinking.

As a result, they recommended that in the future, whenever a drinking opportunity arises, that she always drink in moderation and responsibly. Lois was in agreement with this and swore to her Mother and Father and to her friends that she would never ever drink in an excessive and abusive manner. In her own words, "I never pondered the fact that I would become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local town newspaper. I now realize that irresponsible and hazardous drinking is not the best for me. I declare that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also had a lot of common sense. That is, she rapidly realized that she had made an error in judgment and decided that she would not make the same mistake again. If truth be told, she now grasped the fact that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of abusive and excessive drinking can result in death.
